JENNIFER FRIEND Trip Into Success

Jennifer's journey to success began on January 01, 1994 although she had no idea where her path would lead on the day she married Greg, a smalltown boy from eastern Kansas.  Having grown up in Topeka, Kansas it was a large adjustment to move to his hometown of Fredonia with a population of two thousand.  Although Jennifer had enjoyed working at an ad agency in Topeka, in Fredonia the job market was rather different.  She worked part time as a teller at the local bank and then took a job as an aide in the Altoona Middle School.  Three years into their marriage, they had their first son, Tristan, and she relinquished her duties at the school to stay home with him.  Two and a half years later, Trevor was born.  Once the boys were no longer toddlers she began to have more time for herself and that is when she started to get a little stir crazy.

Her journey continued when she mentioned her desire for adult companionship during the workday to a friend at church, who happened to be a helper of an Avon representative.  She encouraged Jennifer to check out the Avon opportunity.  Jennifer investigated the company online and liked what she saw.  Her husband encouraged her as well, saying "If you buy any Avon at all, it doesn't make sense not to sign up, since it only costs $10 and you save 20% per order, you would be ahead even if you never sell anything to anyone else."  So that is what Jennifer intended to do, save money on her own purchases and perhaps sell to family and a few friends.

Starting a successful business was almost an accident.  She signed up in early summer and took an Avon book to the pool, just to get familiar with the product line.  She came home with over $150 in orders, taken down on scraps of paper because she was unprepared.  Now Jennifer carries an Avon book and order forms with her everywhere.  She was surprised at how much Avon products sell themselves.  She was also amazed when she got more involved with the business that there were already three President's Club members in Fredonia (each with sales over $10,100/year) and she had never met any of them in the five years she had lived there.  Now there are four.

Jennifer became involved in the Avon Leadership program at the insistent urging of her district manager, Regina Robbins.  She signed up two representatives in August and then went with Regina to help with the Avon booth at the Kansas State Fair in September 2003.  In June 2004 Jennifer was able to take her first Caribbean cruise thanks to Avon.  Since that time, Jennifer's business has continued to grow. She now has one hundred people in her downline.
